Introducing Bonnets and Booties for Tiny Babies

I'm excited to now offer in my Etsy store, bonnets and booties to fit small (2.5 to 4 pounds) and tiny (1-2 pounds) babies. I often get requests for preemie sizes and hear a lot of concerns about the difficulty in finding preemie clothes. Take a look at the pictures of the bonnets and booties. The largest bonnet and booties are for full-term babies. The middle bonnet and booties are for smaller, lower weight babies with head circumference up to approximately 11 inches and foot length up to approximately 2-1/2 inches. The smallest bonnet and booties are for preemies with head circumference up to 9 inches and foot length up to 1-3/4 inches. They're offered in a variety of standard colors and of course, custom colors are encouraged. I will be experimenting with new designs in bonnets, booties, dresses and rompers. Autumn Sunsets

I do love the colors of fall and the colors of sunset: Yellow, red, and orange. They're so warm and and comforting to me. I became a little curious about what these colors would like when crocheted together in a beautiful pattern. This was the result. Please keep in mind, the yellow appears much paler than it really is:

Not bad, I thought. Could make a nice autumn bedspread or a beautiful table runner, so I began to place the blocks together.

Then, I thought, a table runner or a bedspread would be too boring, so I decided to do something a little more daring. Do you know what that is? I'm not even going to give you a hint. You're going to have to wait for the finished product so stay tuned!!!

Too Hot to Trot!

Two posts in one day? Why goodness me! Just wanted to share 2 hot pads that I created using the tunisian crochet stitch, my favorite stitch. Hot pads are great for protecting your counters, tables and you, from hot pots and cooking dishes. They also make great kitchen decorations if you become creative with the designs.

New Project: Girl's Crochet Shawl or Stole

Well I'm starting a new project that I'm designing. I usually run two projects a time: A filet thread project and then a tunisian yarn project...just to break up the monotony. I haven't started my new tunisian project yet, and when I do I'll post a picture of the beginning. Here is a picture of the beginning of a pretty pink shawl for my 8-year-old, soon to be 30-year-old cousin, Reghan.

I purchased perle cotton thread from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs: http://www.shadylane.com/. On a scale of 1 to 5, she gets 5 crochet hooks for quality and choice of colors and here's a bonus: All of her thread is made here in the U.S.A. I don't know about anyone else, but the thread and yarn I've been purchasing from Wal-Mart that has been manufactured overseas is not that great of quality. I've often seen yarn knotted together throughout many skeins that I've purchased from companies whose thread has been made in China or India, yuck!!! Anyone else has had that problem?

But I do have a confession to make. I'm still learning to filet crochet with uniformity. Any tips from you veteran filet crocheters would be greatly appreciated.
